notes:For a lot of people playing petanque is just fun, to practise it as a competition sport is something quite different: it is a game of skill, strategy and self-control. How to improve the techniques and tactics, how to fight in order to be in control of one's nerves: that is what this book propose to all players who are willing to increase their level of performance and their record of achievements.

Pierre Fieux wrote his book to combat certain ideas that are common in the world of petanque. His message is: 'Everyone, whatever his age is, is able to progress, and there are methods to do achieve that. I also tried to prove that the level of a player not only is the result of his technical level, but also of his tactical level and his capacity to master himself. In a way, my goal was to give a bit hope to all less skilled players, by showing them how to improve themselves. As regards to me: by adopting certain principles that I developed in my book, I made a lot of progress during the eighties of the last century.
