High-lob game - a combination of competition and coaching

We all know that to become a skilled petanque player you have to actually practise. Unfortunately just talking about the game ,dringking pastis , red wine , white wine, or indeed anything else , will not improve you game much. But as practising is quite boring we have devised a game out of it.

For 2 players, to practise high-lobs.

Decide who plays first. This player draws a 50cm target circle from 6 - 10m from the throwing circle. There is no jack in this game. Players must lob into the target circle, otherwise the shot does not count and the boule thrown is removed from the game. The idea is to stay close to the target circle.

Players can agree to alternate shots, or "furthest from the circle" plays.

The winner of an end draws a new circle and the game continues.

"Game" can be to any agreed number of points.
