Part 1 of a possible scenario

Team A, boules A vs team B, boules B.

Team A throws boule A to shoot boule B.
Boule A hits boule B which then hits the jack. The jack moves far away in the playing area where there is a boule B not to far away.

Meanwhile, boule A that was used in the shooting of boule B also moves far away in the same direction as the jack. One player on team B accidently stops boule A before it reached the jack, giving the game points to team B!

Somebody calls the umpire (Mike Pegg)! what would his ruling be?

Guy

Article 20 - Stopped Boules

Seems to cover this situation. Personally I am not an umpire and I am not expert on applying this rule.

Assuming the stoped boule was likely to affect the outcome of the game.

I think it would reflect on the character of a person that would claim victory when they have obviously not complied with the spirit or the rules of the game.

Is winning by cheating a worthwhile win?

Personally If I had had it happen that I had stopped the boule the solutions would be to declare the end dead and offer to replay it.

If this did not keep the “wronged” side happy I would offer to concede the game.

Let them have the hollow victory.

If the game was of importance you should pay attention or stand behind the person throwing.

Regards

Don

Hi Don,
Would you quote exactly the part of article 20 that covers this situation?

As a recap, the boule that was stopped accidently by an opponent was the boule shot.

PS: I chalenge anybody to quote exactly the part of article 20 that covers this situation?

When somebody does, I will then proceed with step 2 of that puzzle. You might be amazed by my reply.

I do that of course to get some action on that site!

Cheers,
Guy

Sorry, my mistake in my last post.
I meant to write the boule that was stopped accidently by an opponent was the boule used by the shooter!!!

Maybe the moderator could change my previous posting!

Simplified a person tries to claim a win by stopping the balls.

To me how “accidentally” this was done only seems relevant to what the penalty they should receive.
