There's issues that are quite sad among petanque players these days... and I won't try to enumerate them all in one email.
But lately, seeing the bickering re: lawsuits and program "volunteers" and time and resources... Oi! E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E has time and resource problems! That is a fact.
Now if you've been privileged to take business management classes or have had similar work experience, you should have at least learned this lesson, or at least I can tell you now.
The responsibility of management is to make the most out of the resources available to them. That is a fact. It *IS* possible to let some of those resources go if they are a hindurance to your growth. No one will argue with that. In our fledgling sport of petanque here in the U.S., our resources are *very* limited. That is a fact. *SO*, as a responsible manager, it is the duty of the management to *deal* with the resources (*motivated people*) to take advantage of the momentum that they could provide. IN FACT, it is their obligation to take advantage of it. To not, it is a disservice to the rest of its members. If you choose to be in *MANAGEMENT*, then your duty is to manage. If you can't handle that heat, then don't go in the kitchen. The people that its members have elected are hoping that the *management* is going to make useful time of their *volunteer work* and not squander it on personal vendetta's; to make more good than bad... I have to say, I'm seeing a lot of bad, and barely ANY good... so my opinion is they need to refocus...
I personally just feel skeptical as to how the *management* chooses to use their time and resources... I may be wrong, but I just wanted to put in my 2 cents...
I wish you all good luck... At least I know my little group of players is quite happy playing with each other every week and NOT at all concerned (thank the Lord) with these petty politics...
Good Luck.
