Hans:

Funding for Junior entrants is a matter that depends on budgetary considerations and other matters. Hopefully your awaited proposal for setting up a national program as discussed in multiple private emails with you but not yet answered will be the first building blocks of a national youth program. Getting children excited about the game does not require a letter from FPUSA.

FPUSA's support of a team to the FIPJP World Championship tournament happens every two years already. There is no reason to expect this to change as long as FPUSA has funds to do it.

I have suggested to you that any serious proposal will need to try to establish some kind of model for the organization, and then address short term and long term staffing and funding issues. It won't happen over night.

Setting up and operating a youth petanque program is beyond the scope of FPUSA at this time. You and others have been told this repeatedly. As far as I know, youths are already welcome to play at any existing club, and anyone can help set up programs at schools, churches, and through community park resources independent of FPUSA.

You obviously have publicity resources available to you through your weekly radio program. Presumably your being a media insider will enable you to obtain other free or low-cost advertising for your project.

As noted my forum posting yesterday, there is no reason why FPUSA has to or even should run such a program. Something tells me that Little League is not run by MLB, and that the NBA doesn't run the NCAA or its March Madness, or any college, school or other youth league programs.

Perhaps your being a member of the petanque club in San Francisco (if that's correct) will give you entree into that large community as well as around Sonoma with its far lower population.

Thank you for your enthusiasm in commiting to organize a national youth program. We look forward to receiving your plans and seeing how we can work together.

We at FPUSA eagerly await your plans and the ultimate success of your youth program venture.
