Time management is a crucial aspect of "Petanque Sport".One behoofs well to know all about it. I have played many competitive matches where
A) I am behind in the score, the other team is playing better then us; let's stretch the game to a couple of hours and see how they play in a hour from now.
B) I am ahead and killing them right from the get go; let's finish them off right now, in the next 10 minutes.
Of course, the other team, given they know what they are doing, knows this too. It turns into beautifull matches more times than not.
In social Petanque, time management is inconsequential. You play for the fun of it, and suit yourself and the game. Politeness is required in those situations and can not always be achieved by all.Try and find consensus.
Generally speaking, in a tournament, you have to let games take their natural cause. It is part of the game to wait in those situations.
