Why squat?

I don't find my balance is stable when squatting but I do know that the terrain can be sloped or have ruts in it. So I may squat down just to take a look at the line of my pointing throw, taking note of anything that may affect my boule, then stand up and make the throw.

Also, it is important to "walk the line" between the circle and your intended target... noting the softness/hardeness of the terrain along the way. So many times my intended plombe bounces too far because the "soft ground" close-up turned much harder farther along.
