As of yesterday, January 2 2007, I have instructed my attorney to cease all legal activities on my behalf against FPUSA, 8 days before the upcoming deadline in the California Appeals Court.
This sad episode of Petanque in America has been going on for almost 3 years. Numerous settlement offers from both sides were rejected. Mediation failed. The positions were hardened and no flexibility to compromise was exhibited. Each side claimed to be on the “right” path; to defend the Integrity of Petanque, but actually moving farther away from it each go around in the courts The atmosphere is vicious on both sides towards each other.
We have nothing to gain from the constant hostility towards each other. I pledge to focus my efforts in the future towards getting more youngsters to play our game. I hope somebody in the FPUSA is large enough to follow this gesture, stop grinding the battle axe, and join me on the path to harmony and success for our beloved Sport.
