Thanks again to all who have contributed to this discussion. Personally I think those damn pesky Keebler Eleves should stick to baking their cookies and NOT messing around trying to balance on top of Pétanque boules to determine their balance point. Other than that, without getting too wacky I assume that at the upper end of the scale of competition boules the quality control of all the top fabricants is very high and it would be very rare to have a boule be so out of balance that a shooter or a pointer would notice it. So for me it's just to have faith in whatever fabricant that you prefer. Good Luck to all.
