Hi, the sports council are now to busy funding the Olymics to hand anything over to small clubs..There are Sports for All groups that can help if you are not attached to a pub but have a lease or own a piece of land. Some local councils can offer a little help also some groups such as Lions or WI or parish council sometimes will fund small projects..
Regards
Jeff

Hi,
Dont know if you are still interested in this or have had some success...
We set up a new club in Leeds http://www.leedspetanque.co.uk/
a few years ago. We got advice from the Northern Region of EPA
(thanks Alan!).
The hardest part is finding a piste, or land that can be turned
into one. A lot of effort (and money) was put in by the initial
members building a piste on part of a local school car park.
We funded it with membership and have grown to about 30
members now.
We are still there but looking for a more permanent home (our
piste is still a car-park for most of the day). We may try for
council funding this time no the club is established.
Approaching some local pubs (esp if they have gravel car-parks or large gardens) is worthwhile.
My parents are trying to set up a club in the north-east but
cant find a venue.
Best of luck,
Mark.

thanks mark for your info.
i actually have been a member of the northern petanque for 15yrs, i wanted to set up a club in kirkbymoorside since moving here 2yrs ago but the plan as now back fired as i'm looking at moving back to york again, so obviously won't need my own club.
thanks anyway for the advice.

No problem. There are no shortage of teams in York anyway.
We play in the York League over the summer - just played our
last game in this years. Perhaps we'll bump into you next
year.
Cheers,
Mark.
