New planning application to demolish The Limes at Catisfield, home of Limesdowne Pétanque Club

The application in 2011 fell through. Unfortunately this new application is still full of
inaccuracies and mis-leading statements, and doesn't
recognise the importance of the loss of the Pétanque
terrains.

Our club website
http://www.catisfield.com/petanque/index.htm
has details of the application and how to see its
documents.

If you are able to input any comments (by 29/8) it would be greatly appreciated

Worse case scenario - If the demolition were to go ahead, would your club be relocated with the developers footing the bill, perhaps with a bigger and better terrain?

After the success of the London Olympic Games, are we not meant to be building more sporting facilities instead of knocking them down?

I went to a public meeting last week on the site plans involving the developer, council planners and councillors etc.
The developer will pay a levy, but these days that just goes into a pot that the council doll out (rather than funding a specific replacement.)
Parts of the council are trying to be helpful, pointing us at us a pair of under-utilised tennis courts at Fareham's Park Lane Recreation Ground. About the right size, easy to convert and not far from a Bowls Club where it seemed we could make use of their clubhouse for toilets, refreshment etc.
But we've had to put in a planning application to
convert these tennis courts. This lead to some negotiation about design - eg we agreed only to floodlight one of the courts and use low light-spill lights.
But the planners held onto one big objection - that
Pétanque players might have to park on local roads - and would not support our application. So we had to withdraw it.
Still battling. Still trying to make the point that if there are to be more people playing sport then action is needed to enable it.....
