Hello,
I've spend few days looking for English books dedicated to Petanque (im focused on trainig and technique esspecialy). Thanks to www.petanque.org I've found some titles and .. surprise : know on-line bookstores do not have them (or I didn;t found :-) ).
Question : Can anybody advice me how can i purchase english books about petanque - possibly via on-line transaction or somethin similair - I'm from Poland and it's pretty hard to travel somewhere for 1-2 books :-).

Regards,

I'm very new to the game, I'm only 16 and my parents brought me a Petanque kit (I'm not very good at the actual terms you guys use) from France, so I thought Let's give it a shot . (I'm also new to english, so please forgive my bad spelling and grammer) My friends and I don't play exacty by the rules. see, we've made up our own rules (we usually play this game at the beach, or wherever there's a sandy piece of ground. we mark a line - a starting line, where the players throw from. we usually play in pairs. when all the balls (boules?) have been thrown we do the measuring: the closest ball to the PIG (is that what you call it?) wins three points, the second closest gets two points and the third closest gets one point. the first team to reach a certain amount of points (previously decided) wins)but browsing this lovely web site I've come across your rules - the real ones. so I have a few questions about them:
1) I've always played in an open area, never In a boules court , so: WHAT HAPPENES WHEN A PLAYER KNOCKS THE BALL OUT OF PLAY?
2) Do ALL PLAYERS THROW WITH THE PALM OF THE HAND FACING DOWN(wards?)?
3) who is the TIGER WOODS of Petanque?

Hi Marek,
We sell Petanque, the French game of boules by Garth Freeman online, and accept credit cards. Cost is $ 11.95 and shipping by air (printed matter) to Poland is $ 4.00.
Let us know if you need more info.

Read Article 12 – Jack Moved into Another Game for your answer.

2) Do ALL PLAYERS THROW WITH THE PALM OF THE HAND FACING DOWN(wards?)?

No, but very few don't as you have more control on the boule when you do.

3) who is the TIGER WOODS of Petanque?

Many of the top players are from France.

I intended to add but forgot about it: Regardless of what article 12 says, in Québec, when you play pétanque socially and not competitively, once the boule or the jack goes on another terrain (piste)it is dead as if it goes out of bound.
