Greetings to all.
Can anyone tell me if the colors of
the boules made by the manufacturer
'La Boule Bleue' are permanent, or
a surface coating that wears off with
use? I have tried to contact the site
www.laboulebleue.com. It seems to be
devoted to porno at the moment.
Thank you.
Peter

Je trouve le site très bien, mais je crois qu'il serait interessant d'avoir plusieurs extraits vidéo de fait marquant dans le monde de la pétanque 2001.

When playing doubles can 1 person throw all 3 balls in a row, or does he have to stop at 2 and let his partner throw 1 before he throws the third ball?

The color on the boules is indeed just a thin layer of coating/paint, and it wears off quite quickly.
One funny thing about it is that it makes small blue dots on all the other boules around...

Until somebody invents a coloured metal, I'm afraid the coloured boules, usually black or blue, have just a temporary surface coating that scuffs off during use to reveal the metal underneath.
The only exception I'm aware of is the Integrale AC boule, a top-of-the range bronze-aluminium alloy - a very soft boule, which being made of a different metal retains it's bronze colour. It also has a warmer feel compared to the cold feel of steel.
Incidentally, the blue boules of la Boule Blue is their cheapest hard, carbon steel boule. They did also make a black boule (not sure if they still do) - all their other boules are plain steel.
Regards,
Ray Ager

There are enough restrictions/controls in our daily life whithout having another one here in pétanque. There is no order of who plays a boule for one side in pétanque and let's not change that.

As long as it's your teams turn you can decide who should throw without any limitations.

Try the site www.laboulebleue.fr
This works, not .com but .fr at the end

JB makes a boule with copper jacket. It lasts longer than those done with just varnish or 'controlled oxidation'. Don't know how long, though. Also, its has different sound than normal steel boules :)

Peter, You are correct about the dot com site being porno. However, if you go to www.labouleblueue.fr (for France) you'll see the company site. A nice one, too.

Now I have seen those blue boules in real life... Most of the blue was removed within 6 games :( The website says that the coulour will fade gradually, but I think it leaves right away completely.
By the way, a friend ordered boules from www.labouleblue.com website, and chose them without engraving. The boules arrived with a text NULL on them :)

The site was www.laboulebleue.FR, not .com :)
