I play petanque and enjoy the game, however I find the ritual of 'kissing fanny' very distressing. I am not a prude. I have tried to have this matter discussed at the club, but others dismiss it and say it's the way it's done.
I wonder if others outside petanque would be happy to know such a disturbing ritual is done, and if - when we advertise the club in the local paper - we should let people know, 'Come - and get to kiss fanny for the thrill of your life..' Would others understand? Would people playing squash, for instance, like to have that thing done.
We are not a band of roughneck rugby players, why should we put up with that innuendo?
I am concerned because if something distresses another person I thought there would be respect to not cause distress.
Perhaps I should just leave, which would be a pity because I enjoy the game and don't often get 0.
Regards,
Irene.
I think this site is excellent.

It's ment to be something you can laugh at (and to make people play better, so they wont have to do it ;) ), and not to scare people away.
Don't take it so seriously. Put on a smile and say I'll get you the next time :) insted of being angry

Of course.Bien sūr. Claro que si.
We live in the island of Cozumel and we are playing every saturday. There are people from Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Canada, and of course France and Mexico. We play in any suitable spot, but we are thinking of making a smoother terrain.
