Thanks to Alex.A.M.de Groot we have a new section - philately.
An extensive collection of images of stamps, postcards, envelopes etc. all related to petanque.
In the words of the collector himself, Alex.A.M.de Groot:
Allthough i have been active in the philately since 1959, I just started the collection "Petanque in the Philately" only when my neurologist allowed me to start playing petanque (which means end of august 2001!!) As apparently I have some feeling for petanque due to previous sports (darts, bowling, billiards, basketball)pursued before all medical problems, I am already entering enthusiastic and sometimes successfull all kinds of tournements.
Due to my philatelic background I know my way around in the philatelic world which ease the collecting part, however it is very hard to figure out which countries already have issued or intend to issue a single stamp or serie related to this topic of "petanque and similar ballgames".
Next to this it is also difficult to find out if there were any special postal cancelations used in any country for championships or tournements. Or if the national union or local clubs are using their own "red cancelation" or their own printed envelopes.
By promoting this collection on petanque.org, I hope that visitors will help me expand my collection with philatelic material from their country (or promoting their own club in my collection for visitors around the world :-))) as your club is mentioned like the letter of the Dutch Petanque Association (NJBB) or Jeu de Bouleclub Midi Delft or Club Bouliste Berlin etc.
So if you have something that you think may fit in - please send it to:

Bent Toe from Sweden sent us a few photos of boule in action
If you area true francophile you will need this. OBUT has in their wisdom created a "Tour de France" Boule set. Mais Oui!
On Sunday 19 February 2012, I shot a boule and it made a metallic ping and broke perfectly in half when my bloues hit it. It seems that there had been a crack in the boules that had allowed some water to corrode the weakness. Is is a JB competition boule.
Byron Putman discovered petanque some two years ago and fell in love, head over heels. Then decided to analyze every angle of the game, including its development in the USA. He started clubs in Palm Springs, CA and in Lake Oswego, OR. And wrote a book about it, aptly named "Pétanque - The greatest game you never heard of!"
