Dutch National League 2000

2001-01-15 11:19

2000.05.29 by Jac Verheul Mr.Verheul@petanque.org
The first team of the petanque club 'Les Cailloux' are the new Dutch champions for triples!

Jan Danen, Mark Helffer and Issa Agzoul, the players of the first triple of the petanque club 'Les Cailloux' are the winners of the final match of the Dutch National League 2000 and are the new Dutch champions for triples. In 1998 they already won the national title and they represented The Netherlands during the two last World Championships (in 1999 as the winners of the Boule d'Or competition). Jan Danen won the Dutch title for triples seven times, but Mark Hellfer is the Dutch recordman with eight titles since 1981!
The final match of the National League was played in Ede while the weather conditions were very bad: hard rain and a terrific tempest all the day.
Danen, Helffer and Agzoul beat their opponents, Van Alebeek, Van Nunen and Tuaux (the first triple of the petanque club 'Plop') in a best of five-match in four games: 13-8, 9-13, 13-8 and 13-10.
On Sunday the 4th of June the new Dutch champions has to play a decisive a best of five-match against the winners of the Boule d'Or-competition 2000, Bob de Vroom, Pierre Thèze-Lassus and Junior de Jong. On the stake is the qualification for the World Championships 2000 for triples in Faro in October
