French victory at La Mayonnaise

Philippe Quintais and his team win the single, double and triple titles.

Philippe Quintais, Jean-Luc Robert and Hergé Concedieu won the triples competition at La Mayonnaise in Stockholm today,
13-0, over Åke Borgström, Mats Lind and Staffan Lund. The French team's victory was rapidly and effortlessly won with the audience being treated to an exhibition of petanque on the highest level. With the exception of one match against three members of the Swedish Women's National team, they encountered little difficulty on their way to this title.

Philippe Quintais and the Swedish player Harko Verhagen won the doubles competition, 13-0, over Anders Strandberg and Rickard Nilsson. The winning team relinquished a total of only four points in all the six games in the doubles event.

Philippe Quintais had defeated Hergé Concedieu for the singles title the previous day.

Pétanque - The greatest game you never heard of!

Byron Putman discovered petanque some two years ago and fell in love, head over heels. Then decided to analyze every angle of the game, including its development in the USA. He started clubs in Palm Springs, CA and in Lake Oswego, OR. And wrote a book about it, aptly named "Pétanque - The greatest game you never heard of!"
