The tournament took place in Peterhof in front of the entrance to the main Palace on 10 of July 2004, where 28 teams took part in this event. Last weekend St.Petersburg was undoubtedly the capital of the Russian petanque. And this year the swedes won the tournament!

It was a friendly occasion, much fun, causes and a fantastic atmosphere. The weather was fine in the beginning, but the rain in the afternoon made this tournament really special and unforgettable.
Jokes, wet people throwing the boules… Players didn`t want to leave the terrains and the games never stopped. But the finals continued in the sunny-conditions and on the dry terrains.
28 teams participated in the tournament:
15 teams – St.Petersburg Petanque Club. President – Ruslan Svetlichny.
5 teams – Moscow Petanque Club Buddy. President – Eugene Osokin.
1 team – Petanque south (Rostov on Done)
1 team – Petanque south (Novorossiisk)
1 team – Petanque Kaluga
1 team – Petanque Club Bumer (Belgorod)
1 team – Petanque Bavaria (Capitan – Alex Bauer)
2 teams – Petanque Club “Bajen”, Stockholm, Sweden (Capitan – Hasse Hagberg)
The tournament was held in four groups of 7 teams. Then the 4 best teams were fighting for the cup!
1 Bajen (Sweden)
2 Kiss (Germany)
3 Peter –2 (St.Petersburg)
4 Autoradio (St.Petersburg)
The results of the demifinals:
Bajen – Autoradio (13:8)
Kiss – Peter-2 (13:11)
The final was played by the teams Bajen and Kiss!!!
The scores of the final games:
Sweden – Germany (13-3)
Autoradio – Peter-2 (13:10)
And the winner was:
Sweden (Bajen) – 1 place
Germany (Kiss) – 2-nd place
Autoradio – 3-d place
Peter-2 – 4-th place
The Sweden team won the cup, but didn`t take it to Sweden!!! The 1-st cup was given to the best well-dressed team (have a look at the pictures – you`ll find them for sure)
This was the first tournament for many of the participants… and it will stay in memories of the players for a long time!
Everybody is welcomed to St.Petersburg next year!
