Stockholm Petanque Season in Full Bloom

The first results from La Mayonnaise Open, currently in progress in Stockholm.

The largest annual petanque competition in the Nordic region is La Mayonnaise Open, presently underway in Stockholm.

The single competition began on Friday and the semifinals and final were played in the rainy evening yesterday.

The title was won by Philippe Quintais, the individual holder of the largest number of World Championship titles, who together with two of his compatriots is also currently leading the triple competition which will conclude later today.

He defeated Pablo Patron, representing a local club, 13-2.
Pablo won his semifinal match against Amel Moufid, also representing a Stockholm club and a previous World Championship title holder. Pablo defeated one of the other three French guests, Jean-Luc Robert, in the quarter final the day before.

Philippe won his semifinal in a rapid and excitingly close match against the third member of his own team, Herge Concetieue.
