Dragan Antonijevic from slovenia has sendt us some wonderful pictures from Marseille.

Dear petanque lovers,
My name is Dragan Antonijevic, from Slovenia (EU). Here in our little but beautiful country we play the petanqe for app. 7 years. So, as my wife and me are the first Slovenian team ever participate on this magnifical event, I decide to contact you and send you some photos.
I have to stress that Mondial La Marseillaise petanque is definitelly the event every petanque player must see and take part of. More than 12.600 players - among them almost all the best French players (Quintass, Foyot, Lamour, Lacroax ...) and excellent players from 25 countries in the city where the game of petanque was born (actually, near Marseille, in little town La Ciotat). It is incredible how all that people treat the game and master the technique and tactic. You can walk by hours and all you can see are good, very good, excellent and incredible players.
As my wife (Dina) and me needed the third player, we manage to find one 82 year old man, named Marius Louis, who happened to know all about petanqe! So we played very good game against the Benitez team, but they were too strong for us, and we lost 13:5 at the end.
So, here are the pictures (part 1, I will send you part 2 in the following e-mail)
(If you wish, I can send you even more pictures), enjoy!

Friendly,
Dragan
Byron Putman discovered petanque some two years ago and fell in love, head over heels. Then decided to analyze every angle of the game, including its development in the USA. He started clubs in Palm Springs, CA and in Lake Oswego, OR. And wrote a book about it, aptly named "Pétanque - The greatest game you never heard of!"
10 shooters, amongst one woman, were present at the finals of the manifestation 1.000 Boules in Nieuwegein (very near to Utrecht in the centre of the country) on Saturday night, the 29th of October 2011. Amongst the players there was also Philippe Quintais, the former French world champion (12 times!) who gave a demonstration at the end of the manifestation, visited by almost 400 spectators. All players had to shoot 100 boules within 10 minutes at a distance of 8 meters.
Devotees of pétanque will now be able to enjoy a glass of pastis before a match again: The World Anti-Doping Agency is to remove alcohol from its list of prohibited substances for competitions.
At Parkhurst Petanque in Johannesburg, we developed a new game called Petanque Pinball.
